I teach for understanding. I explain the process and the steps to get an answer, but more importantly, I help my students to understand the concepts, as they relate to the real world. I communicate in a way that makes the work fun and interesting. Some students come in hating math, but my passion and love of it helps them to enjoy it a bit, too.
The "Ah-Hah" moment. I love it when my students suddenly understand a concept that they thought they could never get.
One of my high school students worked so hard and had so much trouble in math, and she finally passed the Regents exam. It was great. After a lot of hard work, she did it!
Study outside of tutoring sessions. They come in ready to work and gain knowledge.
